Wirefree or wireless devices are all around us from doorbells and cordless phones to WiFi for our computers. Wireless alarm systems have also "come of age" now and are a real growth area as more and more customers are realising the advantages of fast "no mess" reliable installations. Not to be confused with the cheap "DIY" systems on offer these professional, insurance approved systems, equal and in most cases exceed their wired equivalents.
We have been installing professional wire-free systems for 15 years now and during that time we have seen some real advances in technology - todays systems can rightly be described as state of the art. Our systems include voice or text messages that alert you to alarms and can be pet friendly on request.
Our systems are from companies with long experience in the manufacture of radio based systems and they all use the latest narrowband technology to eliminate the possiblity of interference and false alarms.
Close supervision of the remote sensors is also an integral part of these professional wire free systems - they actually 'report in' to the radio receiver at regular intervals with detailed information on status, battery level and simply to say "I'm here". If any problems are found, or if the check in report is not received on time, the keypad bleeps and displays this information immediately.
Detectors are battery powered which means they are not subject to the voltage surges and mains power spikes that can produce false alarms in some wired systems. Modern lithium batteries can last up to three years before needing replacement, although any failure before that time is reported to the keypad and to the Alarm Receiving Centre if it's a monitored system. Also we can check all batteries via our remote servicing system VERA. Being battery powered the detectors do not call on the control panel's back-up battery in a power cut so the system will continue to work for many hours longer than a wired system.
On a wired system the position of the detectors is usually determined by the ease or difficulty of wiring (e.g. a tiled bathroom above) but wire free detectors can be sited where they can be most effective. This feature is especially true of shock sensors and smoke detectors. To wire a shock sensor would require unsightly wiring or plastic trunking whereas a wire free shock sensor just sits discretely on a window or door - they even come in white or brown to match the colour of the frame. Smoke detectors too can be easily added at any time, and mounted right in the middle of a ceiling with no wiring visible whatsoever !

If you have a garage away from the house, wire free detection is easy to add - now or later. Sheds can also become a target for thieves - these too can be quickly and conveniently protected with a wire free sensor. Also, with some systems, these external areas can be set independently from the house during 'TV time' for example.
Small keyfobs can be programmed as personal attack buttons that can activate the system even if it's switched off and, being wire free, they operate within approximately 30m of the house. These can also set and unset the system in day or night mode.
To complete the protection offered, our systems will alert you by sending a text to up to four mobiles. Alarm messages are down to zone level too, for example "42 Bloggs Avenue - Intruder Alarm - Rear Lounge". In addition, if the mains electricity is off for more than 30 minutes a text can be sent to warn you.

It has to be said that there are still a lot of alarm installation companies that have yet to embrace the advantages of wire free technology mainly because of bad experiences in the very early days and as a result may try to dissuade you from going wire free. However we are totally confident in the systems we offer because we have 'stuck with them' from day one and thus have benefitted from the 'learning curve' that only 'on the job' experience can give.
Most systems remain as part of the property but if you ever move home and wanted to take the system with you it can easily be removed and re-installed.
