As more and more people are out at work these days, relying on neighbours to act in the event of an alarm is less practical than it was in the past. That's why it may be good to consider having the alarm system fully monitored by an Alarm Receiving Centre who will ring your keyholders and also the Police in the case of a "confirmed activation" (one where at least two areas have alarmed).  This option is now considerably less expensive than it used to be and certainly gives you that valuable peace of mind knowing that if your system activates someone will always be aware of it and act on it.

24hr monitoring will also report mains electricity failures and low batteries thus further enhancing the integrity of the alarm system and it's ability to protect your premises. If there's an electrical fault in the house say due to a radiator burst or some other problem you will be warned at the earliest possible stage. It has been known to have saved the contents of a well stocked freezer at the very least !
